Longsands Village Green Ball Court

The project aims to create a multi purpose ball court on Longsands Village Green (formerly the site of a landfill closed in 1958) for young people and families to use for a variety of sports and community functions. The ball court will provide extra facilities for teams, youth and community groups and individuals to use for ball games including football, basketball, netball and cricket, training sessions and informal recreation. The ball court will provide an all weather surface for these activities, particularly beneficial for periods when the football pitches and fields are too wet to use. Planning consent for the ball court was granted in December 2008 by Preston City Council. The ball court is the first phase of the delivery of the master plan for Longsands Village Green. Drainage will be installed to take run-off from the courts surface to ensure an excellent playing surface.
