Lower Moor wetland management

The wet grassland at our Lower Moor site is important for wildlife especially wading birds. This Project aims to ensure the site continues to be managed to maintain this valuable habitat. We are working with guidance from the Environment Agency to keep the grassland and feeding scrape wet through most of the year. This requires an extra sluice to be created in the channel which supplies the water. We also need to continue to graze the site with cattle to maintain the riverside grassland. Fencing and gateways need to be repaired/replaced to allow access for maintenance and for movement of livestock to appropriate areas to graze on rotation.
