Luddenden all weather sports area

Luddenden stands in a steep-sided valley, part of the Upper Calder Valley Renaissance area. It has grown from an early settlement – clustered about the ford in the valley bottom – into the tightly packed huddle of stone buildings which characterise the village today, a Conservation Area. The pattern of historical development has created a compact, enclosed valley bottom village set against an undeveloped backdrop of steep hillside farmed fields merging into an exposed moor top. Whilst this picturesque character attracts many new residents (mill conversions) and day visitors, publicly accessible amenity areas are at a premium. This project will regenerate a very popular 7-a-side/multi-use court, built 15 years ago.
