Maggie’s Cheltenham Extension

Maggie’s Cheltenham is located adjacent to the grounds of Cheltenham General Hospital. The Hospital sees
over 23,000 cancer referrals each year and the Maggie’s Cheltenham Centre provides support for people with cancer across Gloucestershire and neighbouring counties and their families and friends. A wider project includes an extension to the centre together with the creation of a garden. The LCF funds will be allocated to the garden which will be open to both visitors and the public.

The overarching aim of the garden project is to create a welcoming space with access to nature.

The works to be completed are:
• A small external courtyard will be created screened by ivy panels surrounding a central Sorbus tree.
• Garden seating will be installed made from very durable hardwood to ensure it is robust and hardwearing.
• Herbaceous planting including preparation of the land.
• Garden lighting will be installed to maximise the opportunities for the green space to be enjoyed by visitors.
• The supply and installation of irrigation to all new beds and pots.

The garden will have a significant impact on wellbeing providing a soothing, calming contrast to the hospital.
