Magical Meadows

Magical Meadows is a project which works to conserve, connect and create magnesian limestone grassland in the Durham Magnesian Limestone Natural Area. The Magical Meadows project is tackling directly the conservation and restoration of Magnesian Limestone grassland, a local variant of the UK BAP priority habitat Lowland Calcareous grassland.

The project will be undertaking works to assist in the preservation and improvement of magnesian limestone grassland by clearing and treating scrub and providing the conditions and infrastructure for ongoing grazing management. It will also enhance existing grasslands by diversifying the sward with the addition of local provenance seed.
