Making the Thompson Dock Gates Safe for the Future BO208

It is proposed to make safe, by the construction and installation, asset of five triangular braces, the caisson gate to the Thompson Dry Dock, home of the building of the Titanic. The dock, known as a graving dock, is a basin made of concrete, closed by the caisson gate into which vessel was floated and the water pumped out, leaving the vessel supported on keel blocks and accessible for the completion of the hull or other modifications. The Thompson Dry Dock is no longer operational and is currently maintained dry. It is an important heritage asset because of the link to maritine heritage in general and the RMS Titanic in particular.
