Making Ye Olde Cross an Accessible and Inclusive Community Pub

Installation of a wheelchair accessible vertical platform lift to first floor of Ye Olde Cross so that customers and service users can access the community space.

In summary, a vertical shaft will be installed and all necessary electrical work carried out by the contractor in the large hallway of Ye Olde Cross. This is adjacent to the existing stairwell. A survey has been carried out by Newton Architects to ensure the floorspace required meets all health and safety and DDA requirements.
Funding awarded by Suez will be solely for the installation and construction of the lift.
As part of ongoing refurbishments, RCCS has installed an accessible changing space on the ground floor of the community pub. This has been the first step in making the pub accessible; people with mobility issues now have a facility they can use without any restrictions. They can do so in comfort and privacy.
