Malmesbury Green Project, London- Improvements to the community garden (006630)

Project aims to transform an existing community garden at Ambrose Walk, which is currently dilapidated, encourages anti-social behaviour and does not provide for the local community.
It will, in particular, add play facilities for younger children, fruiting trees and shrubs, seating areas and plants to improve biodiversity. This will be done through small interventions and cuts into the existing surface to allow planting to establish. The planting should provide a interesting backdrop for walking routes through the site. Balance beams (made of site won sleepers), stepping stones and leap pads (cut out of existing tarmac) would cut through the planting allowing children to play, explore and challenge themselves. It is intended to engage with local artists and ecologists to input into the design.
The community garden is an open space, accessible to all residents year round and is just off a busy pedestrian commuter route which provides access for residents of Bow to the nearby Bow Road Station.
