Marbury Reedbed and Woodlands Phase 2

The reserve comprises oak/birch woodland, willow and alder carr, reedbed and part of Budworth Mere. In 2012 a 160m LFCTF funded recycled plastic boardwalk was constructed through the reedbed linking the woodlands to Marbury Country Park. Increased visitor numbers have caused previously passable sections of the woodland floor to become churned up, muddy and waterlogged detracting from visitor experience, damaging ground flora and making the site less accessible. An LFCTF funded project completed in May 2014 began to address this problem replacing 40m of the path with boardwalk. This project will finish the job laying a further 40m of recycled plastic boardwalk, covering the remaining wet sections of the path.
