Market Weston Fen Restoration

The aim of the project is to restore 19.3ha of neglected SSSI valley fen at Market Weston Fen, the country’s most hydrologicallly intact rich valley fen. This is 7% of Suffolk’s fen rsource and a BAP target. The land adjoins an existing Sufffolk Wildlife Trust site and restoration will create a sustainable 36.9ha fenland nature reserve.
Through the project stock fencing and gates will be installed and the habitats will be returned to a favourable condition which can be maintained sustainably in the longer term by grazing
