Marshside’s blizzard of birds

Marshside is a nature reserve of international importance and is home to a staggering wealth of birds and other plants and animals. There are literally thousands upon thousands of birds there that create a spectacle of international importance, but the reserve that they seek out for their survival cannot manage itself. The wet grassland is carefully grazed or mown and kept free of invasive pest species like Japanese knotweed. Electric fences protect nesting birds from the cattle. This work requires staff, volunteers and equipment, but the blizzard of indignant birds that appears when a merlin flies over is worth every penny of funding. Coppice work, mower maintenance & Renewal of sluice for water management.
