Marvellous Meadows

The aim of the project is to protect and enhance biodiversity at five lowland meadow nature reserves in Bedfordshire (two of which are Sites of Special Scientific Interest) through the implementation of effective management regimes and development of the Wildlife Trust’s capacity for sustainable grazing. Without careful and constant management, the characteristically rich flora and fauna of these lowland meadows will be lost to encroachment by coarse grasses, thistle and scrub. To prevent this, our conservation staff will deliver a programme of work to include grazing management, installation of a new water supply, installation of new fencing, hurdles and pens, and stockproof fence and gate maintenance.
