Matrix Wetlands

The Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust’s world famous Slimbridge Wetland Centre is undergoing a major capital redevelopment – to enable us to engage with new audiences for conservation and improve the ecological profile of this historic wildlife reserve.

We wish to create a new area of natural British wetlands with a flowing stream running down the middle, which will be situated centrally to all the exhibits. This will be the nerve centre for the new Slimbridge, with accessible paths and bridges, crossing the wetlands and taking visitors to every corner of the grounds. These wetlands will also provide a new ecological corridor for the wildlife in the reserve and surrounding countryside, and attract a range of native British animals into the heart of our site.
