Matterdale Church Toilet Refurbishment

Matterdale Church is a 16th Century Grade II* listed Cumbrian church. It has a toilet and meeting room attached at the rear for community use. The project is to replace the 1990’s compost toilet with a flushing toilet and septic tank. The aim is to increase the community use of the meeting room. The toilet has disabled access.

Matterdale have been trying to build a village hall for around 10 years. The original £400,000 plans would now cost £900,000 to build. The land identified to build a village hall on is off grid and gaining mains electricity would cost £100,000.

The Friends of Matterdale Church are supporting the church to develop the community room and encourage more community use. The project is split into phases and the first one being install a modern flushing toilet.
