Maximising Phosphorus Recovery from Wastewater Sludges

Phosphorus-rich sewage sludges are often disposed to landfills rather than spread on land due to health concerns. Their Phosphorus content is therefore irretrievably lost. The project will study recovery of Phosphorus from sludges using combined chemical extraction and precipitation in laboratory and pilot experiments.
