Mayow Park Playground, Lewisham – Playarea Refurbishment (007797)

The project is a major overhaul of an existing playground, last re-built in 1997 in Mayow Park, Lewisham. The aims are to:
– Increase the frequency and duration of active play within the playground space in the diverse local community, especially in age groups with a higher risk of becoming sedentary.
– Make the new playground accessible to children with SEN
– Involve the community by gathering suggestions for imaginative play floor markings and sensory trail equipment. This would have the dual effect of engaging the community and raising awareness of the project.
– The playground will include additional seating, therefore bringing parents and carers together whilst supervising children. It is anticipated that an increase in the number of people using benches, socialising and using the playground for a longer period of time.
