Meadow Well, North Shields, Inclusive Early Years Playground Improvement Project

Funding will be used to transform the Early Years playground at Cedarwood Trust in Meadow Well, North Shields, into a safe, inclusive, and stimulating outdoor environment for children aged 0–5. The project will replace and upgrade the existing decked area with low-maintenance, child-friendly composite decking. New inclusive play equipment will be installed, including wheelchair-accessible features, sensory panels, musical instruments, and imaginative play elements to support early development and social interaction for children of all abilities. The canopy area will be enhanced with soft pillar protectors and fresh decoration, creating a sheltered space for year-round use. A new seating area will improve safety and supervision, while the messy play zone will encourage creativity and connection to nature through sand, planting, and hands-on exploration. This investment will significantly improve the learning environment for our youngest community members and support their health, confidence, and development through active, inclusive play.
