Meklsham Link Canal

The original line of the Wilts & Berks Canal through Melksham has been lost to development. An earlier project, part funded by LCF (021), identified the preferred new route from the popular Kennet & Avon Canal to the north of Melksham. This project aims initially to carry out a number of environmental surveys, necessary to gain planning permission, leading to the construction of a navigable waterway including associated footpaths, visitor moorings and locks, so providing a new public amenity.
