Melrose Cauld/Scaurs Restoration

To mitigate the damaging effects of recent ill-informed works to Melrose Cauld and to re-establish and upgrade existing access alongside the River Tweed as part of the Southern Upland Way and local path network. Before works commence, an essential feasibility study involving a full hydraulic model of the River Tweed in the vicinity of the Melrose Scaurs and Cauld is required to ensure that any future restoration work is appropriate and will not further destabilise the area. Much of the work requires professional technical expertise, however, community groups will assist with works to the local paths and creation of a new picnic/play area.
