Men in Sheds and a Community Hub, Age UK Bexley

This is a project to provide a dedicated portakabin-type building within the grounds of Christ Church, Erith to provide a venue from which to run the ‘Men in Sheds’ project, supported by Age UK and Bexley Council. The Men in Sheds project is designed to engage with older men who are traditionally difficult to engage and support. The project gives them the opportunity to make/grow things themselves, whilst socialising with other men. The principal aim is to reduce social isolation, improve confidence and well-being, promoting learning, skill sharing and offer support, whilst feeling part of the community. The idea is also to include sessions for women only. The facility will also be used as a community hub for information and advice on the other services available in the area.
