Mercer Park – Temple Sensory Garden

The Friends of Mercer Park want to create an individual and high quality sensory garden that appeals to all senses and that invites one to both explore and contemplate; fostering a sense of peace and relaxation. The site is at present a mown grassed area surrounded by an old privet hedge and an outer tarmac pathway. It is maintained as close mown grass resulting in a dull and underused space within an otherwise popular Green Flag park. As there are currently no pathways into this area access is severally restrictive to anyone pushing a pram or in a wheelchair. The project will improve 679 m2 and incorporate:
*3 new pathways into the sensory garden allowing better disabled access, the remainder of the area will remain as mown grass to create informal walk ways.
*7 Sensory planting areas.
*3 integrated seats within the main raised flower beds.
*5 standard benches distributed throughout the new garden.
*3 new litter bins at each entrance.
