Meriden Community Centre, Watford – Play Area Refurbishment (006048)

This project will see the existing play area which looks tired, neglected and has been deemed unsafe by the council replaced. The applicant will create an innovative and stimulating play space that will enrich the lives of young children and their families, as well as teaching them about the natural world around them, through the inclusion of a nature zone, which will contain hedgehog dens, bird boxes and bug ecosystems.

The playground is in a very visual space, located immediately in front of the community centre entrance and is therefore passed by anyone coming into or out of the community centre. Refurbishing the space would therefore have a significant visual impact and would hopefully make the centre an even more welcoming place for those who want to come along to have fun and keep fit.
