Merseyside and Lancashire Red Squirrels Project

The funding will support on the ground project delivery through a dedicated project officer supported by contractors and volunteers to: Conduct and coordinate survey to inform our annual work programme and Grey Squirrel control strategy. Conduct and co-ordinate bi-annual monitoring to monitor population trends in Red Squirrel areas, Maintain a database of public sightings and survey records which feeds into the local records centre, the NBN and RSNE, this allows us to contribute to local and national targets.To carry out Grey Squirrel control in those woodlands found to have Grey Squirrel populations.To monitor for and respond to squirrel pox outbreaks.
