Mid Wood,Phillips Park

Mid Wood is an ancient woodland and part of the Philips Park, grade A Site of Biological importance and LNR. There is an existing historic linear route now in a poor state of repair.
In addition to resurfacing and improving over 900m of pedestrian routes through this ancient woodland, 4 new benches to be provided. 1 new waymarker installed, an artist commissioned to create a focal point from a recently wind blown mature beech, balsam and knotweed treated and an 80m section of drystone wall repaired. Two ponds will also be enhanced for wildlife and environmental education using vegetation clearance and restoring water levels. 5 NCFE certificated training courses will be run.
The woodland will also be interpreted following detailed ecological survey and historic landscape assessment. Finally a new mountain bike trail will be created.
