Middleton Lakes Visitor Infrastructure

Middleton Lakes, a mosaic of wetlands, meadows, and woodlands in the River Tame Valley, attracts around 55,000 visitors annually, with numbers rising each year. We need to replace a deteriorating wooden pedestrian bridge and a viewing point boardwalk with rot-proof materials, as the current structures limit visitor access. The new bridges and viewing platform will ensure safe passage over ditches and prevent slips on public paths, making them more accessible for wheelchair users and those with pushchairs. These durable structures will provide a route into the reserve and a navigable viewpoint for visitors seeking tranquillity away from trails.
