Middlewood Road Hub, Sheffield - Community Centre creation (008325)

The project will transform an empty shop front on Hillsborough high street into a thriving community hub. The current space is small, not fit for purpose, and not accessible - the new space is large, accessible, and has much better footfall: it will significantly expand positive action for the community. The project was co-designed via workshops and consultation with over 500 local people, including a smaller group of core users and young people, which has led to development of the current design.

The project will be taking over a disused, neglected empty shop front space: transforming it into a colourful, thriving community hub. Refurbishments changes will include:
1) internal layout changes to create a large multi-use activity space, break-out spaces, and a small co-working area
2) accessible toilet infrastructure
3) floor changes to improve acoustics and access
4) kitchen improvements to make it safe and accessible
5) storage
