Miles Without Stiles, Stavely

The aim of this project is to improve the surface and furniture on a public footpath to create a Miles Without Stiles route suitable for people with limited mobility – those in wheelchairs, people with pushchairs, young families and the elderly.
The focal point of the project is a new bridge (to replace the existing one which is no longer fit for purpose). An artist – blacksmith has been commissioned to work with the project Steering Group on the design of the bridge which will be designed to allow full access. The bridge will be a feature in its own right, but sensitively designed to sit in the landscape to further enhance the public realm in the vicinity of Stavely Mill Yard.
