The aim of the project is to refurbish, improve and convert the former Mission Church at Sunderland Point into a Heritage Centre for visitors and Community space for local residents of Sunderland Point. Another function of the building will be to provide an emergency refuge point for hide tide and storm surge events. The first phase of improvement will be provide a water supply, toilets and a kitchen. Sunderland point is a low lying peninsula of north lancs coast that is cut off twice a day by the tide and has historic links to the Port of Lancaster and the slave trade.
