Misson Carr SSSI: Restoration of Fen & Grassland

The Wildlife Trust will manage Misson Carr to retain and enhance the wealth of BAP habitats & species located here. Stock fencing and a water trough will be installed so that grassland areas can be sympathetically managed by our longhorned cattle, preventing scrub from encroaching onto delicare areas of grassland. Ditches that were dug by the military in the 1970’s to drain the land for bomb removal, will be damned to raise the water table and retain valuable wetland areas. This will create a network of dry and wet ditches that will provide shelter for moths and aquatic insects. Path and access routes will be improved
