Modernisation and Improvements to Existing Club House and Surrounds, Quarry Bank Tennis Club, Dudley

This is a project to redesign the internal surrounding of the club house to provide accessible access, new toilet facilities and provide an accessible walkway to a new level entrance door.

The existing club house opened in 1974, so consequently has very outdated facilities which fail to meet modern accessibility standards. The central focus of the project is to make the clubhouse fully accessible for wheelchair users, the less mobile, and families with pushchairs. The plan is to redesign the internal layout, provide fully accessible entrances, new toilet facilities (including an accessible toilet) and modernised changing facilities. Groundworks will be needed at the rear of the clubhouse to enable access to the new, level entrance (see photographs in the additional information).

The local community and area will benefit from:

• Maintained and increased levels of access to sporting facilities and active sport opportunities through a more modern, accessible clubhouse
• Access to sporting opportunities for schoolchildren, disabled people, and elderly people
• Increased community participation, including those from minority ethnic groups, in active sport and community/social events
• Increased levels of physical fitness, health and well-being, confidence and self-esteem, community participation, volunteering opportunities and pride within our members
• Reduced levels of social isolation and childhood obesity
• Access to a community facility for social events, meetings, celebrations, etc
• Partner links with the local council, health bodies, disabled sports bodies, LTA and First Aid.
