Moffat & District Community Nature Reserve

Works to enhance the nature reserve that was created on a former Patersons Quarries quarry site near Moffat. The proposed works will see funding provided towards – • Construction of a large floating vegetated raft for nesting water birds • Creation of 900m+ of accessible footpaths around the seasonally flooded meadow and to the south hide • Planting of a cereal/fodder crop to provide foraging habitats and creation of a mown path around the 4 ha field to create viewing opportunities • Interpretation signage for mini-beasts trail and educational resources including a pond dipping area, nature lovers rucksack and online quizzes • Part-time project officer to oversee practical activities, educational resources, marketing and community/volunteer engagement
