Moira Furnace Woods, Derbyshire- Boardwalk Renovation

The project will upgrade an existing boardwalk over a pond and watercourse in a woodland park. The current structure was installed over 25 years ago and has served as a safe and accessible route for visitors to the site. The boardwalk has recently had a condition survey and repair and replacement of elements of the structure has been recommended to ensure that the access way is maintained and safe for use for a further 20 years. The boardwalk links a recreational site, woodland and Moira Furnace Museum site, canal and Donisthorpe Country Park (woodland, footpaths and bridleways). The wider site is situated in the Heart of the National Forest and attracts a number of local visitors and tourists to the site throughout the year. The proposed works are sensitive to the natural environment and supports the wider strategy for the National Forest.
