Moneypool Burn Habitat Enhancement project

The aim of the project is to enhance the water environment of Moneypool Burn so as to conserve and support the populations of Atlantic salmon, European eel, sea trout and brown trout which are UKBAP priority fish species. The project will work to improve the riparian zone of Moneypool Burn to enhance the water environment. Coppicing of branches and thinning out of woodland along the riparian zone will improve light levels reaching the burn and its banks. Reducing over-shading of the burn will provide essential draped-cover and food for these priority species fish. Educational sessions will be held to inform and advise the community.
