Morecambe Bay Limestone Woodlands

The project will maintain and restore open woodland habitat across the Morecambe Bay Limestones to conserve threatened butterflies and moths.
Working across a network of 17 ecologically linked sites and directly managing over 45 hectares our project will restore and maintain networks of woodland clearings and rides to make a significant contribution to the national and regional conservation targets for a range of habitat specialists dependent upon open space woodland. A number of endangered butterflies and moths including High Brown Fritillary, Pearl-bordered Fritillary, Duke of Burgundy, White-spotted Sable moth as well as other wildlife (e.g. Juniper, Marsh Tit, Dormouse) will benefit from our proposals. All these species are in decline and amongst the UK’s most threatened wildlife.
