Mortlake Meadow Footpath, Richmond – Towpath Improvements

Mortlake Meadow footpath is a section of path along the Thames National Trail in the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames. It is prone to flooding, so they need a footpath that is hard wearing and won’t wash away during flooding. They aim to plant Elm trees for wildlife habitat, particularly butterflies
The applicant will upgrade the footpath along this whole area. The liner is coming through in places and it has got incredibly muddy due to high tides and flooding. They would also like to fund Elm trees and planting costs.
There have been a number of requests from local residents living along this route asking for the footpath to be upgraded in a suitable material. There is local Towpath Group which meet regularly 4 times a year and they have requested that this work is done as well as other local community groups.
