Moseley Bog, Birmingham – Habitat Restoration

• Restoration of an area of species-rich fen vegetation – a locally very rare Biodiversity Action Plan (BAP) Priority Habitat – to its former condition. The habitat has suffered inappropriate drainage, pollution and colonisation by scrub. We will reverse these factors and re-establish the rich fen vegetation.
• Naturalisation of a woodland pond (BAP Priority Habitat) – currently this has artificial hard banks which are unattractive and poor for wildlife – these will be naturalised through installation of soft banks and wetland vegetation.
• Works within the wet woodland (BAP Priority Habitat) to remove invasive non-native species to protect the native flora.
• Improved access to parts of the site through the replacement and installation of new stretches of sleeper boardwalk .
• A series of community engagement/family events focusing on the heritage, culture and wildlife of the site.
