Moss Valley trackway

Moss Valley Woodlands nature reserve consists of a string of beautiful and diverse Ancient Woodlands along a narrow river valley South of Sheffield. The woods have a particularly fine selection of woodland wildflowers including many Ancient Woodland Indicator Species; Moss Valley is especially well known for its bluebells. There are also many priority species of birds and mammals living within the Woods.
The reserve is freely open to visitors at all times, but the main walk through the woods is an informal path which is becoming increasingly degraded by water run-off and the passage of many feet and hooves, to the extent that visitors are increasingly leaving the path to plunge through the woods, causing damage and disturbance to the very wildlife they have come to enjoy.
The aim of the project is to install a proper surfaced track through Moss Valley to ensure visitors are encouraged to stay on this route and away from vulnerable woodland wildlife habitats.
