Projects / Moss Valley Woodlands Improvements

Moss Valley Woodlands Improvements

The project will involve:
1. The erection of fencing to protect Dowey Lumb, an area of ancient wood pasture with a high diversity of vegetation, from inappropriate activities such as motorbiking. The fencing will only allow access to visitors on foot and prevent damage to the ancient woodland flora.
2. Resurfacing to sections of the bridleway, to improve it for riders in winter and prevent damage to adjoining woodland.
3. Bracken control. The bracken will be cut in July/August to reduce the height and density of bracken to allow greater diversity and quantity of wildflowers and grasses.
4. Meadow cut in September/October to prevent grasses taking over wildflowers and to open up niches for seed, promoting diversity and perpetuating the wildflower resource.
