Mosslands Project – Rescuing and Restoring Winmarleigh

This project aims to restore 90 ha of currently degraded lowland raised bog. Lowland raised bog is a priority UK BAP habitat. In restoring the bog a number of other BAP species will benefit including Water Vole, Common Toad, Common Lizard, Large Heath Butterfly, Bog Bush Cricket. Restoration works will consist of ditch blocking and bunding work to raise the water table across the site, and scrub clearance work to remove birch which has invaded the site.
