Mountnessing Tennis Club, Essex – Tennis court refurbishment (007309)

There is a court adjacent to the tennis club which is effectively derelict. It’s been poorly maintained by Mountnessing Village Council and the tennis club proposes to take responsibility for running/maintaining the court whilst widening its availability to the local community. The court is in disrepair and worsening; it needs total refurbishment, including site clearance, cleaning, treating and then repainting the macadam surface. the applicants also intend to install a rebound wall, add a power supply to the existing floodlights to extend playability and install an automated gate system with online booking facility. They also propose to build a pathway from the club to the court to improve access and landscape the area round the court to create a picturesque viewing area. This will provide a safe, well managed and accessible facility for local residents of all abilities to enjoy tennis on a fair and value for money pay as you go basis.
