Moykeeran Park – “The Plantin

Moykeeran Park or the “The Plantin” as it is known is a small rural park in the heart of Draperstown. This proposal is part of a larger overall strategy for “The Plantin” which we hope will put it back at the heart of the local community by increasing usage, awareness and ownership among the residents and particularly local young people.

We request financial assistance under objective D to improve the infrastructure of the park and its’ biodiversity, so that it can be used safely and enjoyed by the local residents and visitors. This would involve erecting six new metal bridges to replace the old wooden bridges, which have suffered badly from decay and vandalism over the years. It would also require the erection of new handrails, the resurfacing of the paths, the renewal of the perimeter fencing and the provision of summer seats, picnic tables etc. In order to improve the park further we propose removin invasive species, planting trees, hedgerow and wildflowers and erecting bird and bat boxes.
