My Space? Our Space! – Haigh Hall (walled garden restoration project and horticultural scheme)

We will run a scheme for groups of people aged 16-25 growing plants in the grounds of Haigh Hall. The groups will initially be involved in renovation of an area for this purpose and will subsequently carry out cultivation of plants for use in the walled gardens of the country park, and in local planting schemes with other community groups. Through informal sessions the groups will learn horticultural skills with a particular emphasis on good environmental practice eg composting, water harvesting, biological pest control, and sustainable, organic methods. The site will also provide opportunties for formal, accredited training.
