Mytholmroyd Community Centre

Mytholmroyd is the only Community Centre in the extensive Upper Calder Valley area and has a dual role as it incorporates public leisure centre facilities. It was first opened in 1977 as an imaginative initiative by members of the community in creating a local amenity from a collection of redundant former chicken sheds. It has served the community well for over 35+ years and established itself as a focal point, not only for the local area (5 Parishes), but also for people living many miles away. Sited alongside a major Pennine transport corridor, it hosts ‘everyday’ events and a number of important local/Regional activities. A continual programme of refurbishment and enhancement is required to sustain the tired old buildings and secure their continued viability for future generations.
