Nailsworth Quaker Meeting House. Sustainable Energy Improvements.

AIMS OF THE PROJECT
• Actively live out the Quaker testimony to simplicity by reducing our energy consumption in an environmentally sustainable way
• Respond to Sustainable Energy Audit of Severn Wye Energy Agency
• Recognise the age of the building (1610-12) its historical significance and structural constraints (grade 2 listed)
• Provide a welcoming environment to those who use the building. 40% of the time is used by outside community groups and we have many visitors (we are open 7 days a week). The Quaker Meeting has 3 meetings for worship and an active children’s meeting
• Proposals
o Improved Insulation and draft prevention
• Increase roof insulation
• Secondary Double Glazing.
• Replacement of poor energy efficient doors
o Replacement of inefficient night storage heaters with heaters that
• reflect the use patterns of the building
• reduce electricity consumption.
