AIMS OF THE PROJECT • Actively live out the Quaker testimony to simplicity by reducing our energy consumption in an environmentally sustainable way • Respond to Sustainable Energy Audit of Severn Wye Energy Agency • Recognise the age of the building (1610-12) its historical significance and structural constraints (grade 2 listed) • Provide a welcoming environment to those who use the building. 40% of the time is used by outside community groups and we have many visitors (we are open 7 days a week). The Quaker Meeting has 3 meetings for worship and an active children’s meeting • Proposals o Improved Insulation and draft prevention • Increase roof insulation • Secondary Double Glazing. • Replacement of poor energy efficient doors o Replacement of inefficient night storage heaters with heaters that • reflect the use patterns of the building • reduce electricity consumption. • recognise the structural constraints of the building.
