Nathan’s Garden improvements, Moorlands Estate, Brixton

To redevelop the garden to make it more attractive for the whole community. To include seating with pergola’s for elderly people to sit in the shade and interact with each other and to provide a dominoes/chess/draughts area.Appropriate planting will provide shade and be scented as well as using flowering shrubs/trees for fruit which all residents, young and old can pick. Seating will be put in throughout the garden to encourage all people to enjoy the outdoors and socialise.
The pre-school children’s area will have a soft resin bonded surface for safe play and be created by replacing some of the existing concrete flagstone paving. Again sensory planting will create an educational element for all users.
The existing damaged mosaic wall will be redesigned and replaced with residents encouraged to come up with their own designs facilitated by a local community arts organisation.
