Nene Valley Railway – Lynch River Bridge Beam Renewal

Nene Valley Railway is a standard gauge 8 mile Heritage Railway running from Yarwell Junction to Peterborough. Lynch River Bridge is an integral and therefore major part of the the railway infrastructure. The bridge is an open structure approx 100m in total where the rail tracks are carried on a number of substantial heave specialised wooden baulks (way beams) to which the track is attached. These way beams are in need of replacement and should they deteriorate further it would be necessary to close the bridge and therefore the Heritage Railway. This project will replace the way beams in Ekki hardwood and install steel walkways to facilitate future maintenance.
