Projects / Nenthead Community Garden

Nenthead Community Garden

The aim of the project is to create an accessible community garden on an unused piece of land at the front of Nenthead Primary School. The intention is to redesign the space to provide a rich biodiverse multi functional area which will work both as a wildlife friendly, food and plant growing space, outdoor classroom and as a meeting and summer events area for use by the whole community. The garden will be the focal point in the village which due to its extremely isolated position in the high Pennines has very few local amenities. The garden will work as a venue for already established events like the Nenthead Gala Day, seasonal events and an annual tree dressing event the group are planning to initiate as part of this project. The garden will be accessible for both buggy and wheelchairs.
