New All Weather Cricket Practice Nets, Middlesbrough Cricket Club

Middlesbrough Cricket Club (MCC), an ECB Club Mark club, aspire and require a new off field practice facility for the further development of junior and senior cricket sections. An ECB approved four lane 33m enclosed facility will meet the demands of the club, provide a safe, performance led facility to hold warm ups, coaching, drills, skills and net practice.

To attract and accommodate more people from their diverse area and serve cricketers who rely on these facilities each year, and throughout the year, the club needs a new outdoor all-weather 3/4 lane net practice system.

The club is friendly and inclusive whilst being dedicated to fostering youth development and promoting healthy lifestyles. The new outside practice nets will create a safer, more engaging environment for cricket players, their families and the wider community. It will also increase the attractiveness of the club to prospective junior and senior players and assist the club’s retention of junior and senior players by providing increased on-site facilities and allow coaches/leaders to provide year round coaching sessions. The practice system area can be used during wet weather and offers excellent activity options when rain interrupts play or causes cancellation of matches.

MCC’s local community includes some of Middlesbrough’s most diverse and most economically deprived wards. The club provides opportunities for all ages, faiths, genders and abilities to come together around outdoor physical activity and cricket, promoting inclusivity, diversity, respect, team work and positive mental health. It is the fastest growing and largest cricket club in Middlesbrough (over 130 juniors registered and 33 adults), with eleven youth teams including one of only two all-girls teams in the town. The new all-weather nets will provide much-needed, state-of-the-art facilities to ensure more of our local community can engage with the sport in a safe and purpose-built environment.
