Projects / New Bond Street Community Garden

New Bond Street Community Garden

The proposed garden occupies a triangular space in deprived West Central Halifax, opposite a new community- based Innovation Centre (a former mill) adjacent to Halifax’s main bypass. Levelled and seeded when the bypass was constructed, the site currently comprises mown grass with semi-mature trees. Visually the area is reasonably tidy but there is little of amenity value. It is used for low key informal recreation, children’s play and neighbourhood events. Community workers are working with local residents (the Hopwood Lane Neighbourhood Association) to upgrade the greenspace into an attractive garden that the local community, as well as passers – by, and users of the Innovation Centre can enjoy.
