Projects / New heating system for community centre

New heating system for community centre

The project will replace two existing heating units in St James Community Centre (one for the lower hall and one for the upper hall) with new warm air units. The unit for the lower hall is non-functional, having been cannibalised for parts, and the unit for the upper hall is ineffective. The lower hall (used by Furzedown Youth Centre free of charge) is currently heated by portable electric heaters; this is far from ideal both in terms of energy efficiency, comfort and health and safety. The current heating units are over 20 years old and parts are no longer available. Consequently, replacement is now the only option. Two new energy efficient units will be installed and some of the ductwork will be upgraded and adapted to suit the new plant.
